India’s star pacer Mohammed Sami will receive the Arjuna Award for his achievements in cricket. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports announced the 2023 National Sports Awards today. He will receive the award from the President of India along with other recipients at a special event to be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on January 9, 2024. Sami is among the 26 Indian athletes to receive the Arjuna Award for Excellence in 2023. Awarded for outstanding performance and demonstrated leadership, sportsmanship and discipline over the past four years.
The 33-year-old performed well in the 2023 ODI World Cup, where India finished the tournament in second place and lost to Australia in the final. He is the leading player in the World Cup with 24 wickets in 7 matches.
