Elite Women’s National Boxing Championships: Manju Rani, Sakshi, and Other Pugilists Blaze Path to Quarterfinals

The Elite Women’s National Boxing Championships 2022 continues to enthrall Indian boxing enthusiasts as the event reaches its crucial stages. Day four at the GBU Indoor Stadium in Greater Noida witnessed stellar performances from seasoned pugilists, setting the stage for gripping quarterfinal clashes.

Manju Rani, the silver medalist at the 2019 World Championship, displayed her prowess representing the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB). Her masterful performance against Guddi of Chandigarh secured a resounding 5-0 victory, positioning her for an intriguing quarterfinal bout against Delhi’s Sanjana.

Another standout was two-time youth world champion Sakshi representing SSCB. Her aggressive style and powerful punches overwhelmed Telangana’s Refa Mohid, prompting a referee stoppage in Sakshi’s favor during round one. She’s now geared up to face Aarti Mehra from Chandigarh in the quarterfinals.

Shashi Chopra, the 2022 Senior national champion, showcased her expertise against Aarti Dariyal from Uttarakhand, clinching a unanimous decision victory. She’s set to battle Sonu from All India Police for a coveted spot in the semifinals.

In the 66kg category, Ankushita Boro dominated her matchup against Mizoram’s Vanlalhriatpuii, securing a comfortable 5-0 win. Her next challenge awaits against Anjali Tushir of RSPB in the quarterfinals.

The ongoing tournament, orchestrated by the Boxing Federation of India, has witnessed an impressive turnout of over 300 boxers vying for supremacy across 12 weight categories. The culmination of this high-stakes event will see the finals take place on Wednesday, promising electrifying showdowns and raising the stakes for the coveted championship title.
