Railway Sports Promotion Board Dominates 7th Elite Women’s National Boxing Championships Semifinals

The Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) showcased dominance in the 7th Elite Women’s National Boxing Championships, securing eight boxers into the semifinals at the GBU Indoor Stadium in Greater Noida. Led by Manju Rani and Sonia Lather, the RSPB boxers guarantee medals as they move forward in the competition.

Manju Rani displayed exceptional skill, securing a 5-0 victory against Delhi’s Sanjana in the 48kg category, setting up a semifinal clash with All India Police’s Minakshi. Sonia Lather, the 2016 World Championship silver medallist, triumphed over Vinakshi Dhota of Himachal Pradesh with a 5-2 verdict and will face Punjab’s Mandeep Kaur in the semis.

Other notable performances include Jaismine’s victory over Poonam Kaithwas, securing a spot in the 60kg category semifinals against Menka Devi. AIP’s Sonu and Uttar Pradesh’s Rinky Sharma also earned places in the semifinals with impressive wins in the 63kg category.

Youth World Champion Ankushita Boro triumphed over RSPB’s Anjali Tushir in the 66kg category, setting up a semifinal against Deepika from Himachal Pradesh. Haryana’s Saweety Boora and Assam’s Bhagyabati Kachari dominated in the 81kg category, securing their spots in the semifinals.

The tournament, hosted by the Boxing Federation of India and featuring over 300 boxers across 12 categories, gears up for the finals scheduled to take place on Wednesday. The RSPB’s strong performance underlines their prowess in the competition, setting the stage for an exciting culmination to the championship.
